February 18: No School for learners
Language Arts: Learners will learn to make connections between fiction and non fiction texts.
Math: This week we will be converting between metric units of measurement and reviewing all measurement.
Social Studies: We will continue to talk about the events of the Texas Revolution and will begin our Alamo research project.
Science: We will learn how to use tools to measure weather, analyze weather patterns, and read weather maps.
PLAY IT SAFE: All children will participate in the Play It Safe lessons in February, unless parents OPT OUT. Please see Ms. Martin's weekly newsletter for more information
New Positive Covid-19 Case Reporting Procedure
A big thank you to our families for communicating positive student Covid cases to us. In order to help streamline the communication process for both families and our campus nurse, please fill out the following Google Form if your child receives a positive Covid-19 test. The form information goes directly to our campus nurse. https://forms.gle/VUex3RUqzgtsNa716
Once our nurse has received the form from a family, she will reach out to them during school hours to discuss a return date to school and any questions they may have.
WEATHER: Just a reminder that we will go outside for recess as long as the "feels like" is above 32 degrees. Please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing, jackets, etc. on those colder days.
Each learner needs to have the following items each day:
1. Water Bottle
2. Snack (if your child will be buying one from the cafeteria, this needs to be done as soon as they get to school - not during class)
3. Fully charged iPad - please make sure it is charging at night by double checking the battery icon.
4. If your child brings lunch from home, we are encouraging them to bring their own silverware as the cafe supply is low.
Free Lunch:
The free lunch consists of a full meal - entree, milk / juice, fruits and veggies. Other items, such as "seconds," chips, snacks, ice cream, and bottled water are NOT part of the free lunch program and will be charged. For more information, please click here or contact Ms. Star at eprimera@coppellisd.com
Homework and Extra Practice
At this time, we will not be assigning any homework. If you are looking for extra practice or resources, we would always encourage students to read at home! (Kids are more motivated to read when they are reading books they've chosen and find interesting.) In addition, students have access to online resources such as iStation, Raz Kids. For math, we would love for students to login to Dreambox or ReflexMath at home and complete lessons.
