October 18-22

October 21st: BoosterThon Fun Run

Language Arts:  Learners will learn how to identify the ways non fiction texts are structured and the impact it makes on their comprehension.  Raz Kids account log on information will be coming home soon!!!!!

Math: We will finish our unit on multiplication strategies and problem solving this week. From there we will move into division.

Social Studies:  We will identify the accomplishments and explain the impact of significant explorers.

Science:  We will begin our investigation of electrical energy.  This week we will learn to light a bulb with a battery and wires.  We will also differentiate between conductors and insulators.

At this time, we will not be assigning any homework. If you are looking for extra practice or resources, we would always encourage students to read at home! (Kids are more motivated to read when they are reading books they've chosen and find interesting.) In addition, students have access to online resources such as iStation, Raz Kids. For math, we would love for students to login to Dreambox or ReflexMath at home and complete lessons.

Report Cards

Learners in 4th-12th grade will have their report card information available in the Home Access System (HAC) at by the end of the day Friday, October 15th. Parents and guardians who need help with a HAC password should fill out a Help Desk ticket at www.coppellisd.com/helpdesk. You can also log in using your child's login and password. Click on the "Grades" tab and the the "Report Card" tab for the 1st 9 weeks.

BOOSTER-THON FUN RUN: Make sure to check of Ms. Martin's Weekly Updates for more information on how to register and donate for our school fundraiser.

Each learner needs to have the following items each day:

1. Water Bottle

2. Snack (if your child will be buying one from the cafeteria, this needs to be done as soon as they get to school - not during class)

3. Fully charged iPad - please make sure it is charging at night by double checking the battery icon.

4. If your child brings lunch from home, we are encouraging them to bring their own silverware as the cafe supply is low.

Free Lunch:

The free lunch consists of a full meal - entree, milk / juice, fruits and veggies.  Other items, such as "seconds," chips, snacks, ice cream, and bottled water are NOT part of the free lunch program and will be charged.
