Week of Sept 5-9

September 5: Labor Day: No School
September 6-9: Book Fair
September 9: Special Friends Day (more info to come)
September 13: Spring Creek BBQ Spirit Night 5-9pm

Language Arts:

Students continue to be active readers and pursue the idea that we will be thinking deeply and critically as we read in 4th grade.  For writing we will begin developing believable characters as we write.  We will continue spelling, with a focus on closed syllables. In Grammar we will review Nouns.

Math:

We will continue place value this week with rounding, comparing and ordering numbers.

Social Studies:

We will continue to tour the regions of Texas.

Science:

Now that we know how to be safe scientist, we will start our unit on matter.

Curriculum Night:

Here is the link to the Curriculum Night presentation from Thursday evening. If you have any questions, please fill out this form.  We will compile all the questions and send out a FAQ by the end of next week.

First LEGO League Robotics Club

4th and 5th graders are invited to apply for the TCE LEGO Robotics club. We will be able to take 15-20 learners. Some learners already took an application but here is the link to the information and application. You can contact Ms. Burks at kburks@coppellisd.com if you have any questions.

Student Info:

Thank you so much to all of you who filled out the Student Information Form. If you have not had a chance to fill it out please complete as soon as you can:

iPads:

Each fourth grader should come to school with a fully charged iPad everyday. Please help your child form a routine of plugging this in each night. It is also a great idea to check for updates every so often. We have shown them where and how to do this, but are always here to help!

Snacks:

We will have a short, working snack around 9:30 each morning as we do not have lunch until 12:30. Snacks should be mess free and not require the use of utensils. The nurse/office will not be giving snacks / water bottles so please make sure your child has one each day.  Snacks may be purchased from the cafeteria if you child has money in their account.
Due to allergies, please make sure that all in class snacks are completely peanut / tree nut free. (Peanut / tree nut products are okay for lunch.)

More from the PTO:

Dear Town Center Families -
We are looking forward to Special Friends Day on Friday, September 9th! This is a day where a grandparent, parent, neighbor or friend joins your child to see their new classroom, walk around to get to know the school and look at the book fair, if they'd like. Each grade has an assigned time of the day for their visitor to come. The kids put a lot of time into creating things to show their special friend. In order to help make this a Special Day we would like to serve simple refreshments that are "school friendly".
As many of you know, our budget numbers have been down since Covid so in order to pull this off we are looking for donations. If you are willing to buy popcorn or serving cups, sign up below.  You can leave them with Laura Fairchild in the front office by Wednesday, September 7th.
http://tinyurl.com/tcepopcorn***The best price on these products is at Costco, but you can also find them at other stores.  Popcorn amounts were decided using the Costco size bags.  Please buy two bags if you buy them from another store.***
