Curriculum Night PresentationThank you for joining the 4th grade team for curriculum night. It was great to see everyone who was able to make it. Below, you will find the link to the presentation that we showed on Thursday night. The last slide has a QR code you can scan and ask any questions you may have. We will include the link to the answers in next weeks BLOG. This gives everyone time to review the presentation and for us to get the answers.
Parking and Car Loop Reminders- When exiting car loops during arrival and dismissal, follow the city signs requiring a right turn only.
- Be mindful of not blocking car loop entrances. If there is not room to pull up without blocking the entrance, please wait.
- Front and side car-loop areas are for families dropping off and picking up their child(ren). Parents in the loops will need to stay in their vehicle. If your child requires additional assistance to get out of the car, please park in one of our parking spaces.
- Use the designated crosswalks on both the front and side loop when walking across the parking lot. We have staff members at both arrival and dismissal in our crosswalk areas to support our kids in getting across the loop area safely.
- Keep handicap parking spots available for individuals that require them. Please avoid even briefly pulling into them to drop of your child if you do not have a handicap vehicle designation.
- Parking along the back curbs of the lots is not an option. You are welcome to utilize the Cozby library parking lot for overflow parking.
HomeworkWe have had requests for us to send work home for your learners to work on. We do not send homework home unless it is classwork that has not been finished after more than two days of working on it. If we do send any work home, you will receive an email explaining what it is and how to complete it. All of our lessons are designed to allow time to work on all assignments during the school day. Your children work so hard during the day as well as parents. We want our learners to have time being a child and play outside and spend time with family.
If you want your child to work on something, they can do Reflex, Dreambox, or read. But please note, they will have already done this during the school day.
Reminder: Free & Reduced Meals In order to qualify for Free & Reduced Meals, families are required to complete an application each year to determine their eligibility. CISD is encouraging our eligible families to complete an application online at www.nlappscloud.com.
Parents, guardians or students can add funds to their accounts in person at the school cafeteria via cash or check, or for a small fee, they can use the "My School Bucks" app to deposit funds with a debit or credit card. Visit www.coppellisd.com/childnutrition for more information about school breakfasts and lunches or to create or add funds to your child’s school lunch account.
Weekend Backpack Snack PackCoppell Cares will provide the Weekend Backpack Snack Program again this school year. Families may sign up for this program at any time during the school year. Siblings living in the same household are also eligible to participate. If your family would benefit from a weekly Friday snack bag delivery, please complete the following form to sign up:
Deliveries will begin Friday, 9/8/23. Deliveries will be suspended for Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break, and Spring Break. If you have any questions, please reach out to TCE's counselor, Kelly Matlock, at kmatlock@coppellisd.com.
Reminder: iPads
TCE 4th graders should come to school each day with their iPad and charger. Please ensure your child charges his/her iPad each evening. Your child should also check periodically to ensure his/her iPad's software is up to date (settings --> general --> software update).
We wanted to send a reminder that School issued iPads are for school use only. We do random iPad checks every few weeks. We reminded the students today that school issued iPads are not for personal photography books, or communicating with friends or parents via emails or chats, or watching videos on you tube that were not assigned by their teacher. It would help us out if you could reinforce this home.
Reminder: Apple Watches and Smartwatches
We love that our learners are able to wear their Apple Watches and Smartwatches to school, but could you please remind your child that it is to be used for the time and not playing games and texting parents or parents texting during the school day. There have been issues in the past and we want to make sure that we are all on the same page.
Reminder: Snack
We will have a short snack time each day while we continue to work. 4th graders do not each lunch until 12:30 PM each day, so it's important that they have a healthy and nutritious snack each day to fuel their bodies. We also ask that the snack they bring is completely free of peanuts/tree nuts. This will help provide a safe environment for all learners. We also ask that the snack brought in does not require utensils.
Thank you for your help!
