                                                                                   Language Arts

In Reading, Students will show what they have learned this year in reading and celebrate their hard work.

Math
This week in math, we will continue our unit on fractions.  We will also finish our last unit learning all about Geometry and start reviewing for the STAAR test
    • Determine the approximate measures of angles in degrees to the nearest whole number using a protractor.
    • Illustrate the measure of an angle as the part of a circle whose center is at the vertex of the angle and use degrees as the units to measure an angle.
    • Orally explain the process of using and reading a protractor.

Social Studies
In Social Studies, students will learn about the impact that the Great Depression and World War II had on Texas' economy.

Science
  • Explore how structures and functions enable plants to survive in their environment.
  • Investigate that most producers need sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make their own food.
  • I can describe the process of photosynthesis.

The Zoo Crew
The "Zoo Crew Truck" will be at our Spring Picnic/30th Year Celebration as a fun item for kids which we also get a profit from. In addition to the evening, they will come by earlier that day for any children who order online to get their animal made and skip the lines that evening. It's basically a traveling Build-a-Bear type experience for kids. We would not do whole class visits like we did for the Kona Ice. This would just be the kids that ordered ducking out of class briefly during a set time frame.

A Note from Ms. Matlock

Town Center has an exciting resource for families! We now have an entire resource library focused on Social and Emotional skill development. Themes are divided into 5 categories: Understanding Myself, Managing Myself, Respecting Others, Building Relationships, and Making Decisions.

View the titles here: TCE's Family Literacy Library Titles. Then, select the topic that interests you and complete this form to request a Family Book Bag. Corresponding conversation starters to help facilitate discussions at home will also be included in the book bag. Books and discussion questions may be kept for two weeks and then returned to Kelly Matlock, TCE's counselor. Please email kmatlock@coppellisd.com with any questions.

TCE Sun Run

Coppell Cares

Coppell Cares offers the Weekend Backpack Program for families who have financial need. Each Friday, learners receive a bag of snacks for the weekend. The goal of the program is to help eliminate food insecurity for children. They provide nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack items to eligible CISD children (and siblings). This weekly food program helps feed children over the weekend during the school year when they are not receiving meals at school.

If you would like your child(ren) to participate in this program, please complete the online application below.  If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent home with your child, please email TCE's counselor, Kelly Matlock, at kmatlock@coppellisd.com.  Families may sign up for this program at any time during the school year.  Deliveries will begin Friday, September 6th.  Deliveries will be suspended for Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

Background Checks

We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Please click on the link below to complete it.
