In Reading, we will finish our unit on theme and drama, and we will recognize characteristics of drama.

In Writing, we will begin working on "hooks" and crafting our introductions to capture the reader's attention.

In Grammar and Spelling, we will continue to explore long i/short i spelling patterns and begin to examine long o/ o/short o patterns. In grammar, we will continue to review Homophones.

                         Math

In math this week, we continue our unit on multiplication models and strategies.
  • Represent the product of 2 two‐digit numbers using arrays, area models, or equations, including perfect squares through 15 by 15
  • Use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply up to a four‐digit number by a one‐digit number and to multiply a two‐digit number by a two‐digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties
  • Solve with fluency one‐ and two‐step problems involving multiplication and division, including interpreting remainders

Science

In Science this week, we will investigate a variety of mixtures, including solutions composed of liquids in liquids, and demonstrate that matter is conserved when mixtures such as soil and water or oil and water are formed.

Next week in Science, we will plan and conduct descriptive investigations to explore the patterns of forces such as gravity, friction, or magnetism in contact or at a distance on an object

Hats and Toys

Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.
