Language Arts and Social Studies

In Reading, we will end our unit on drama with students being able to understand the different parts in a drama and how to use those parts to comprehend the drama.

In Writing, we are finishing up writing our realistic fiction stories

In Grammar and Spelling, we will examine long oo/ and short oo patterns. In grammar, we will continue looking at prepositional phrases.

In Social Studies, students will be able to explain when, where, and why the Spanish built settlements and missions in Texas, and tell about important people who helped.

                         Math

In math this week, we continue our unit on multiplication models and strategies.
  • Represent the product of 2 two‐digit numbers using arrays, area models, or equations, including perfect squares through 15 by 15
  • Use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply up to a four‐digit number by a one‐digit number and to multiply a two‐digit number by a two‐digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties
  • Solve with fluency one‐ and two‐step problems involving multiplication and division, including interpreting remainders
 Next week in math, we will begin our unit on division.
  • Represent the quotient of up to a four‐digit whole number divided by a one‐digit whole number using arrays, area models, or equations.

  • Solve with fluency one‐ and two‐step problems involving multiplication and division, including interpreting remainders.

  • Use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to divide up to a four‐digit dividend by a one‐digit divisor.

Science

In Science this week, we will plan and conduct descriptive investigations to explore the patterns of forces such as gravity, friction, or magnetism in contact or at a distance on an object

Hats and Toys

Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.


Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Wednesday, the 4th grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of 2025 below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
