Language Arts and Social Studies
In Reading, learners will learn to clarify the theme (central message or idea) of a story through the use of text evidence.
In Writing, students will learn to revise stories through different lenses.
In Grammar, we will review irregular past tense verbs, and in Spelling, we will examine short 'i' and long 'i' words.
In math this week, we will continue our unit covering place value of whole numbers.
- Round whole numbers to a given place value through the hundred thousand place
- Add and subtract whole numbers and decimals to the hundredths place using the standard algorithm
- Round to the nearest 10, 100, or 1,000 or use compatible numbers to estimate solutions involving whole numbers
Next week in math, we will finish begin our unit on multiplication models and strategies.
- Determine products of a number and 10 or 100 using properties of operations and place value understandings
- Represent the product of 2 two‐digit numbers using arrays, area models, or equations, including perfect squares through 15 by 15
- Use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply up to a four‐digit number by a one‐digit number and to multiply a two‐digit number by a two‐digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties
- Solve with fluency one‐ and two‐step problems involving multiplication and division, including interpreting remainders
Science
In Science this week, we will classify and describe matter using observable physical properties, including temperature, mass, magnetism, relative density (the ability to sink or float in water), and physical state (solid, liquid, gas)

Hats and Toys
Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.
