Language Arts and Social Studies

In Reading, we will begin studying nonfiction.  Students will understand how to recognize and understand the importance of text features and the text structure the nonfiction passage.

In Writing, students will begin to learn how to research a topic by taking notes and then using those notes to write a nonfiction piece.

In Grammar and Spelling, we will examine long ou/ and short o patterns. In grammar, students will learn to use commas in a series.

In Social Studies,   students will finish learning about how Mexico won its independence from Mexico and how empresarios helped to establish new colonies in Tejas area.

                         Math

In math this week, we continue our unit on division.
  • Represent the quotient of up to a four‐digit whole number divided by a one‐digit whole number using arrays, area models, or equations.

  • Solve with fluency one‐ and two‐step problems involving multiplication and division, including interpreting remainders.

  • Use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to divide up to a four‐digit dividend by a one‐digit divisor.

 Next week in math, we will continue our unit on division.

Science

In Science this week, we will differentiate between conductors and insulators and also identify conductors and insulators of thermal energy and electrical energy. 

Next week in Science, we will demonstrate how electrical energy travels in a closed path to produce light and thermal energy and explain how electrical energy travels in a closed path to produce light and thermal energy.









Hats and Toys

Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.


Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Wednesday, the 4th grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of 2025 below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
