Language Arts and Social Studies

In Reading-  Students will be able to identify the structure of a poem, explain repetition and sound devices, and different types of figurative language.

In Writing:  Students will be able to write a poem and place specific line breaks, stanzas, theme.  They will know how to use rhythm, alliteration, and repetition.  


In Grammar and Spelling:                                                                       Grammar:  Students will learn how to write compound sentences using and.

Spelling: Students will learn how to write words ending in "ing" and "ed".

In Social Studies, I can explain the important battles and people of the Texas Revolution that lead up to the Battle of the Alamo.

                         Math

In math this week, we will begin our geometry unit! 

  • Students will be able to identify a line, line segment, point, ray, an angle, perpendicular and parallel lines,

 Next week in math, we will look at multi-step word problems.
  • Illustrate and measure angles, identify how an angle is part of a circle, find the measurement of unknown angles by using known angles, identify and draw lines of symmetry in 2D shapes, and use benchmark angles to identify acute, right, or obtuse triangles.

Science

In Science this week, we will collect and analyze data to identify changes in the seasons (such as change in temperature and length of days).

Next week in Science, we will collect and analyze data to identify sequences in the appearance of the Moon from Earth and predict changes in the appearance of the Moon from Earth.






Hats and Toys

Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.


Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Wednesday, the 4th grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of 2025 below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
