This will be during each grade level's specials time (4th grade - 11:35 a.m.). Parents are invited to attend.
Language Arts
In ELAR, we will continue our Novel Study, The Tiger Rising, continuing to focus on characters and character traits. We will begin Plot and Summarizing, where we will think deeply about the texts we read and begin summarizing key details. We will begin week 2 of Spelling , focusing on Open Syllables with long vowels. In Grammar, we will continue Simple and Compound Sentences. In writing we will begin to write a narrative story.
Math
In math this week, we will continue our unit covering place value of whole numbers. In 4th grade, we will
- Round a number in order to estimate and solve a problem
- Represent an addition and subtraction problem using strip diagrams and equations
Next week in math, we will continue review how to add and subtract whole numbers.
Solve single and multi-step problems involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers.
Read and interpret story problems and use models to solve them.

Social Studies
In Social Studies this week, we will continue researching the 4 Regions of Texas, focusing on climate, landforms, industries and plant and animal life.
Science
In we this week, we will begin our unit on matter. Our focus for the week will be physical properties of matter.
- Measure physical properties of matter including mass, volume, states, temperature, magnetism, and the ability to sink or float using scientific tools.
