This will be during each grade level's specials time (4th grade - 11:35 a.m.). Parents are invited to attend.
Language Arts
In ELAR this week, we will continue our novel study on Tiger Rising. We will also continue discussing characters, character traits, and how characters change throughout the story. We will be introducing plot and how it affects the characters. We will review parts of speech and the writing process.
Math
In math this week, we will continue our unit covering place value of whole numbers. In 4th grade, we will
- Compare and order whole numbers to 1,000,000,000 and represent comparisons using the symbols >, <, or =.
- Read the comparison of two numbers aloud using the words less than, greater than, or equal to.
- Round whole numbers to a given place value through the hundred thousands place.
- Use math vocabulary to compare quantities.
Next week in math, we will continue with place value of whole numbers and focus on estimating and representing problems.
- Round a number in order to estimate and solve a problem
- Represent an addition and subtraction problem using strip diagrams and equations
Social Studies
In Social Studies this week, we will define what a region is and classify regions including their characteristics by creating a classroom map divided into sections (regions).
Science
In we will review science safety expectations and practice using science tools correctly. We will conduct investigations through a variety of hands on labs!
