                 Language Arts
In Reading/Language Arts, We will begin our unit on Drama.  Learners will recognize & analyze characteristics of dramas.

In Spelling, we will be looking at  Long a spelled ei, ai, ay words.  

In Grammar and Writing, we will be reviewing adverbs and we will continue our narrative writing, looking at story plot and endings. 

Math
In math this week, we will continue our unit on multiplication.
  • Apply my knowledge of multiplication to represent problems using a strip diagram or equations and to solve problems involving multiplication.

  • Learn a new academic language by using and reusing it to write an equation with an unknown value that shows and solves a multi-step problem and share my plan and solution with a partner.


  Next week in math, we will continue our unit on multiplication.

Social Studies
In Social Studies this week,  learners will understand the motivations for European explorations and settlement of Texas including economic opportunities, competition, and desire for expansion. 


Science
In we this week, we will continue our unit in physical science. Our focus for the next two weeks will be force and motion.
  • Design a descriptive investigation to explore the effect of force on an object such as gravity, friction, or magnetism in contact or at a distance on an object

Walking Field Trip to Cozby Library
Learners brought home their permission slips and information about our Cozby Walking Field trip. If your child has misplaced or lost this , please contact your child's Reading Teacher for a new one. These are due back to school Friday, October 4th. 

Background Checks

We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Thursday 3rd grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of the year below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
