Language Arts and Social Studies
In Reading, we are finishing up our review of summarizing and retelling. We will begin our delve into character development and character traits.
In Grammar, we will look at singular and plural nouns. We will begin word work, looking at long a/short a words.
In writing, we will begin to write about characters and add details.
Math
In math this week, we will continue our unit covering place value of whole numbers.
- Compare and order whole numbers to 1,000,000,000 and represent comparisons using the symbols >, <, or =.
- Represent the value of the digit in whole numbers through 1,000,000,000 using expanded notation, standard, word, and expanded form.
- Interpret the value of each place-value position as 10 times the position to the right and as one-tenth of the value of the place to its left.
- Read numbers aloud using base-ten language
Next week in math, we will continue our study of place value of whole numbers.
- Round whole numbers to a given place value through the hundred thousand place
- Add and subtract whole numbers and decimals to the hundredths place using the standard algorithm
- Round to the nearest 10, 100, or 1,000 or use compatible numbers to estimate solutions involving whole numbers

In Science this week, we will classify and describe matter using observable physical properties, including temperature, mass, magnetism, relative density (the ability to sink or float in water), and physical state (solid, liquid, gas)

Hats and Toys
Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.
Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)
Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Wednesday, the 4th grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of 2025 below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
