In Reading, we will begin our Author's study unit. We are excited to research authors and how they get inspired to write.
In writing, we will continue to learn about the elements of Graphic Novels and begin to write our own.
In Social Studies, we will learn about the development and impact of the oil and gas industry on industrialization and urbanization in Texas.
Math
In Math this week, we will:
- Distinguish between fixed and variable expenses
- Calculate profit in a given situation
- Compare the advantages and disadvantages of various savings options
- Describe how to allocate weekly allowance among spending, saving, including for college, and sharing
- Describe the basic purpose of financial institutions, including keeping money safe, borrowing money, and lending

In Science this week, we will:
- Explore and explain how structures and functions of plants, such as waxy leaves and deep roots, enable them to survive in their environment

If you would like to purchase a book for your child to have signed by the author, you are welcome to use the author’s preferred local bookstore or any bookstore where you typically purchase books. If you order through the authors’ preferred bookstore, the books will be delivered to the school, and the authors will bring them with them on the day of the event for distribution.

Hats and Toys
Our classrooms are a place for learning, growing, and having fun with friends. To help everyone stay focused, we ask that hats and toys stay at home. That way, our classrooms can be distraction-free, and we can all enjoy our time together while learning new things.
Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)
Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Wednesday, the 4th grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of 2025 below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!
